I can appreciate your idea of our inevitable disconnection from our brain’s complex functioning, and how it leaves our psyche lost in a limbo state of this thing we call consciousness. Thus far, however, the particular challenge of physicalist ideas (this, Global Workspace, ITT, Orch OR, etc.) seems to be the need for a satisfying description of the mechanical details, though, these are supposedly right in front of us and will certainly become more testable in time. Meanwhile, I thought you might like this short summary of an idea which is mechanically specific, though, like any abstract idea of consciousness, its particular challenge is the falsifiability of its abstract component.
